Summary

I am a Principal Software Architect specializing in 3D imaging, CAD/CAE, AI, and computational engineering. Over the last 15+ years I have delivered commercial imaging platforms, led international R&D teams, and developed patented technologies in 3D imaging and AI-driven modeling. My day-to-day work spans medical and industrial domains, from CT-based modeling and simulation to NDT inspection and dental scanning.

I am the sole architect and developer of Volvicon — an end-to-end industrial 3D imaging platform designed and implemented from scratch, including the core geometry pipelines, visualization architecture, plugin framework, and application infrastructure (licensing, user management, deployment). Outside that, I have built a broader suite of advanced 3D imaging and computational geometry tools that span reconstruction, segmentation, measurement, CAD/CAE, and geometric processing — gathered here under the Real3d catalog.

I am currently Senior Staff R&D Engineer at Synopsys (Exeter, UK), where I lead development of a commercial 3D imaging platform for CT-based modeling and simulation workflows, architect high-performance C++ modules for large-scale 3D processing and segmentation pipelines, and develop AI-driven segmentation and automated mesh generation workflows.

About this site and the Real3d catalog

Real3d is the name I have used since 2012 for the software I author independently in the 3D imaging and visualization space. It started in South Korea while I was completing my doctorate and has continued through subsequent roles in Korea, the US, Pakistan, Oman, Germany, and the UK. Every application in the catalog was designed, written, and is maintained by me; this site is the public-facing home of that work and a record of the research projects behind it.

The applications are used by universities, researchers, and engineering teams worldwide. Software remains free or low-cost where the academic and hobbyist community benefits most, with Pro licenses for commercial users that fund continued development.
